The Cradle of Humankind is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about an hour's drive from Johannesburg, South Africa. It's a complex of limestone caves and fossil sites that's considered one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. The area is where many early human ancestor fossils have been found, including the famous "Mrs. Ples" and "Little Foot" fossils.
The Cradle of Humankind offers visitors a chance to explore the Sterkfontein Caves, where some of these fossils were discovered, and the Maropeng Visitor Centre, which features interactive exhibits on human evolution. You can take guided tours, go on underground boat rides, and learn about the science behind human origins. The site is also home to a variety of wildlife and offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape.
